St. John Baptist de la Salle Patron Saint of Teachers was a French priest that dedicated his life to education.  At 11 year old, he committed to becoming a priest.  He formed schools and trained teachers to educated the poor families in his church.  John also founded a college to train teachers to teach their students the Christian faith.  he adopted the idea of teaching children in age groups, a practice still used in schools today.  Because of this, St. John is known as the patron saint of teachers.
