St. Anthony was a teacher, who had a book of psalms containing notes he had written to use in instructing his students The book was stolen and Anthony prayed that it would be found, As it turned out, the book was taken by a Franciscan novice without permission.  Fearing for his life, the thief was moved to return the book after witnessing some frightening apparitions.  Because of this, Anthony is known as the patron saint of restoring things lost or stolen.
