St. Anne Patron Saint of Grandmothers. St. Anne and her husband of 20 years, Joachim, had no children.  In their despair at being childless, they both prayed to God.  One day an angel appeared to reassure them they would be given a daughter, Mary.  St. Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary, eventually became the grandmother of Jesus Christ.  Because of this Anne is known as the patron saint of grandmothers.
