You may have heard the word Reiki before, but do you understand it’s meaning? I believe if people understood Reiki’s true meaning and origins they would be fascinated and eager to learn more about this subject. For starters, Reiki means “Spiritually Guided Energy.” To break it down, Rei = Spiritually Guided and Ki = Energy. Reiki is a Japanese technique for reducing stress. As a result, this stress reduction promotes healing. As you may be well aware, stress can be the root cause of many illnesses, including anxiety, depression, cancer and heart disease. However, what you may not know is that anyone can learn this healing modality, even YOU!
Reiki was founded by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan in 1914. Once you have been attuned to Reiki by a Reiki Master, all that is required for Reiki to work is your intention. Reiki can be used to bring healing to yourself or other people. During the attunement, the Reiki energy makes adjustments in your chakras and energy systems to link your energy with the universal Reiki energy. When giving Reiki you never deplete your own energy because you are acting as a channel for the Universal Reiki energy to flow through you. When doing a healing session on yourself or another person, all that is required is for you to place your hands on them (or on yourself) with the intention of healing. As mentioned above, there is no great ability required, just a desire to bring peace and healing. Reiki has an intelligence of its own and knows where to go and what to do. Experience, confidence and a relationship with your Reiki guides will help you become more proficient.
Studying to be a Reiki Practitioner can be used for many things besides healing. It can be used to rid a place of bad energy or to clear a house from spirit activity. It can also be used to protect yourself from other people’s negative vibrations. Reiki makes meditation easier too because the attunements you receive during class continue to flow through your energy system. Reiki also can be used to help manifest things into your life faster because you have a better understanding and a better relationship with this universal energy that is responsible for all of creation.
